. the california woman who lost the ticket in her car for months. now, she's coming forward to claim a $23 million jackpot, just in the nick of time. abc's nick watt has the story. >> reporter: these security camera photos show the $23 million winner leaving the store after she bought her ticket back in may. >> i remember, the lady walked in. she bought a bottle of water. she walked out. as soon as she got to the door, her mom called out, just buy a lottery ticket. >> reporter: lottery officials were hoping, praying someone would recognize her before it was too late. the mystery winner bought just one ticket. it cost her a single dollar. but if you don't claim your winnings within six months, the cash goes to the california school system. she had only until november 30th to come forward. local tv stations and newspapers were all over the tale of the mystery millionaire. then, late yesterday, a break. the woman's daughter spotted her mother on tv. mum had no idea she was the winner. cue a frantic search of her car for the five-month-old scrap of paper. and she found it. in 2010, $17.5 million went

[ laughter ] we passed a weird measure in l.a. measure b will require porn stars to wear condoms in all adult films shot in los angeles. primarily male porn stars. the women do not have to wear them, but -- i believe this is the first election in which i voted on an erection. it is unique to us in hollywood. the way it works, every adult film shoot in l.a. have to to pay for a permit and the money from the permits will go to fund periodic condom inspections. for real. people will be carrying cards that say condom inspector on them. california governor jerry brown went to the polls to vote near his house yesterday. unfortunately, the guy voting next to him brought his dogs, one of wish took a particular interest in the governor. , california, are trying to determine the motive for a deadly workplace shooting. they say lawrence jones was in the middle of his shift when he pulled out a handgun and fatally shot two of his co-workers at close range before wounding two others and then taking his own life. >>> and in michigan, police have arrested the man they believe is behind a highway shooting spree. 24 shootings in the last 3 weeks alone. one driver was hurt. police say 1 tip out of nearly 3,000 that came in led them to the suspect's home. >>> and in medical news, going bald and other signs of aging may be much more serious than we thought. they could, in fact, be tell-tale signs of heart disease. a new study found that people are some 57% more likely to have a heart attack if they develop at least three of the following four signs of aging. baldness, a receding hairline, ear lobe increases or fatty deposits around the eyes. checking for those signs of aging should be part of every doctor's exam. >>> and a woman who is probably the nation's bravest and most determined voter. 21-year-old galicia malone, was in labor

. magnitude 2.0. i have to believe that was meant for news southern california but this is what happens when mother nature uses apple maps. everything gets confused. meanwhile, you know there still isn't much gas in new jersey or new york. only about half the gas stations in new jersey are open right now and the ones that are have very long lines and in an attempt to alleviate the lines the state instituted gas rationing rule this is weekend, drivers with odd license plates go on one day, drivers with even license plates the other days and drivers with a screw driver can switch plates and fill up every day. you have to have a phillips. i'm sure aware of the presidential election is tomorrow. not just for president but tomorrow americans will go to the polls, elect a new leader and go home for thanksgiving to fight about it. i'm happy it's almost over. i'm sick of elections. i hope we never do this again. . i'm jimmy, i'm the host. thanks for watching. thank you for joining me here in california. i'm glad you're here, i'm glad you're alert and attentive. no one is texting, which is nice. that's a rarity. this is kind of interesting. they say for the first time since we started doing it, texting has started to decline. a new report has found that the average number of text messages, cell phone customers in the united states sends has dropped from 700 a month on average to 675 a month. which is still a lot, but -- maybe texting is down because a lot of the people who text and drive are now dead. [ laughter ] or maybe it's just tiger woods isn't texting as much since the whole -- [ laughter ] it makes sense when you think about it. because 20 years ago, everyone sent letters. you would sit down and write a letter. make them a few pages long. then we started sending e-mails and the notes got shorter, because you can go back and forth with people. after awhile, that seemed like too long, so, we moved to text and now we're just taking the next logical step, now we send nothing.
